By coordinating transportation and urban planning, the TOD model builds a multi‑modal and three‑dimensional transport network, improves the connectivity of urban space, boosts mobility, and enhances the resilience of large cities. By integrating regional functions in planning, the TOD model fosters a polycentric and distributed urban form, and improves cities&amp;rsquo; stability, flexibility, and innovativeness amid disturbances, thereby elevating the resilience of large cities. Through above‑ground and underground space development centered on public transport networks, the TOD model reduces land occupation, delivers low‑carbon transportation, promotes the balance between jobs and housing, preserves the diversity of natural environments, improves environmental redundancy, and strengthens resilience. The practice of the TOD model requires support from a sound institutional system.
