College English education in private universities is at a critical period of transformation. Starting from the evolution of big data, this study analyzes the opportunities it brings to college English teaching, reveals the existing problems in current college English teaching in private universities, and further explores how to respond to the changes of the times and specifically improve the efficacy of college English teaching in private universities.
