The article first reviews the symbolic significance of red, white, and blue in Russian history, and then analyzes in depth the multiple connotations of colors in Tolstoy’s classic works Anna Karenina, War and Peace, and Resurrection. Through the combination of color symbols with characters’ destinies, inner conflict, and historical background, this paper explores how Tolstoy’s literary works reflect the historical changes and national spirit of Russia, especially the important value in education and cultural inheritance, providing a new perspective for the study of literary education and emphasizing the educational role of color symbols in literary works in shaping national spirit and cultural identity.
<keywords/></article-meta></front><body/><back><ref-list><ref id="B1" content-type="article"><label>1</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Zhu J, 2023, Conservatism, Orthodoxy and the Construction of Russian National Image, China Overseas Chinese Publishing House, Beijing.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B2" content-type="article"><label>2</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Zhang B, 2000, Contemporary Orthodox Theological Thought: Russian Orthodox Theology, Shanghai Sanlian Bookstore, Shanghai.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B3" content-type="article"><label>3</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Peng Y, 2020, Analysis and Interpretation of the Concept of Russian National Culture, China Social Science Press, Beijing.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B4" content-type="article"><label>4</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Figgis O, 2018, The Dance of Natasha: A History of Russian Culture [Zeng X, Guo D, Trans.], Sichuan People’s Publishing House, Sichuan.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B5" content-type="article"><label>5</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Tolstoy L, 2017, Anna Karenina, Phoenix Publishing House, Philippines.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B6" content-type="article"><label>6</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Steiner G, 2011, Tolstoy or Dostoevsky: An Essay in Old-Fashioned Criticism [Yan Z, Trans.], Zhejiang University Press, Zhejiang.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B7" content-type="article"><label>7</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Nabokov V, 1982, Lectures on Literature, Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, California, 150.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B8" content-type="article"><label>8</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Tolstoy L, 2019, War and Peace, Jiangsu Phoenix Literary Publishing House, Jiangsu.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B9" content-type="article"><label>9</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Tolstoy L, 2015, Resurrection [Ru L, Trans.], People’s Literature Publishing House, Beijing.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B10" content-type="article"><label>10</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Pasturo M, 2020, A Biography of Color: Red [Zhang W, Trans.], Xinzhi Sanlian Bookstore, Beijing.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B11" content-type="article"><label>11</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Zhang J, 2014, Analyzing the Cultural Symbolism of Black and White in Russian.
