By transforming the school into a microcosm of society, we can cultivate individuals who possess a social spirit and adaptability, preparing them to thrive in real-world social situations. By analyzing the social performance of colleges and universities in terms of their training objectives for society, research concepts for the development of society, and service consciousness for the improvement of society, as well as the current demand for a proper connection with society, it can be found that taking “school is society” as the guiding ideology for the construction of the university environment tends to be simplified, purified, balanced, broadened, and provided with practical space. This will be beneficial to the development of higher education.
<keywords/></article-meta></front><body/><back><ref-list><ref id="B1" content-type="article"><label>1</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Dewey J, 1990, Democracy and Education [Wang C, Trans.], People’s Education Press, Beijing, 18–27, 216.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B2" content-type="article"><label>2</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Dewey J, 2005, School and Society · Tomorrow’s School [Zhao X, Ren Z, et al., Trans.], People’s Education Press, Beijing, 29, 31, 58, 66.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B3" content-type="article"><label>3</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Brubacher JS, 2001, Philosophy of Higher Education [Wang C, Zheng J, Zhang W, et al., Trans.], Zhejiang Education Press, Hangzhou, 51.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B4" content-type="article"><label>4</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Wang H, 2014, On the Essential Attributes and Missions of Higher Education.
