In recent years, its incidence rate is increasing year by year. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has a broad prospect in the clinical development of CAS treatment by holism concept and the principle of treatment based on syndrome differentiation. This paper reviews the etiology, pathogenesis, TCM dialectics and TCM treatment of carotid atherosclerosis, in order to provide theoretical guidance for TCM treatment of CAS patients.
