This paper reports a middle-aged male patient who was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in our hospital and developed acute kidney disease after treatment with methimazole. Creatinine and kidney injury-related protein levels decreased after treatment with methimazole. After the primary disease was excluded, acute kidney injury caused by methimazole was highly suspected. The aim of this paper is to improve the safety of methimazole and reduce the rate of missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis.
<keywords/></article-meta></front><body/><back><ref-list><ref id="B1" content-type="article"><label>1</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Li Y, Teng D, Ba J, et al., 2020, Efficacy and Safety of Long-Term Universal Salt Iodization on Thyroid Disorders: Epidemiological Evidence From 31 Provinces of Mainland China.
