Skills competitions act as a platform for students to showcase their abilities. In this paper, skills competition-related content was incorporated into the teaching of the Engineering Mechanics course. The teaching experiment was carried out in a class of 40 students and the teaching quality was evaluated in the form of questionnaires. The results show that skills competitions can draw students’ attention and improve the quality of education. Therefore, more skills competitions should be organized to improve teaching quality.
