Employing a case study methodology, this research investigates the production of pickles in Sichuan Province, China, and Yamagata Prefecture, Japan. This study elucidates the components and characteristics of cultural landscapes related to pickle production in these regions. It was found that residential and transportation conditions significantly influence the composition and landscape patterns of these cultural landscapes. The integration of food production practices with local dietary systems and community awareness is emphasized in this research. The findings offer insights and serve as a reference for understanding and preserving food production cultural landscapes in other countries and regions.
<keywords/></article-meta></front><body/><back><ref-list><ref id="B1" content-type="article"><label>1</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>UNESCO World Heritage Centre, n.d., Cultural Landscape of Old Tea Forests of the Jingmai Mountain in Pu’er, viewed February 20, 2024, https://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1665</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B2" content-type="article"><label>2</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>UNESCO World Heritage Centre, n.d., Cultural landscapes, viewed February 20, 2024, https://whc.unesco.org/en/culturallandscape/</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B3" content-type="article"><label>3</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Agency for Cultural Affairs, n.d., Cultural Landscape, viewed February 20, 2024, https://www.bunka.go.jp/seisaku/bunkazai/shokai/keikan/</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B4" content-type="article"><label>4</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Okutani M, 2022, A Study on the Intangible Intrinsic Value of Cultural Landscape: A Case Study on the Funaya Landscape in Mizojiri District, Miyazu City. 2022 Japan Association for Cultural Economics, 19(2): 94–106.</p><pub-id pub-id-type="doi"/></element-citation></ref><ref id="B5" content-type="article"><label>5</label><element-citation publication-type="journal"><p>Bai Z, Wen J, 2023, Study on the Evolution Mechanism and Protection of Traditional Village Cultural Landscape under the Perspective of Resilience--Taking Chiqiao Village in Taiyuan, Shanxi as an Example.
